Bloom – Central Park Joondalup 7th October 2026

Seth and I recently wandered through Bloom at Central Park in Joondalup, and came away agreeing it’s a must-see on the calendar. Created by Lazer Vision Media and brought to life by the City of Joondalup, this immersive light and sound experience turns the park into a whole different world after dark.

It’s a great one for families, with plenty to keep kids of all ages entertained — and the adults too, even if we tried to pretend we were just there to supervise. The interactive points bring Australian native wildlife and fauna into the story, all wrapped around the idea of connection and a spectacular full moon. And when that moon appears? Absolutely worth the trip. No telescope required.

The show is self-paced, so you can wander through at your own leisure. There’s no one ushering you along like you’re late for the school pickup. Take your time, explore the different installations and let the soundtrack do its thing. Sometimes it invites you to keep moving; other times it’s a gentle reminder to stop, take it in and enjoy the moment. We’d recommend allowing at least an hour, and closer to 90 minutes if you’re the sort who likes to stop for “just one more photo” about 47 times.

The live holograms, dancing water imagery and light canons were big hits with the kids — and, if we’re honest, a few adults as well. Our standouts included the laser show cutting through the eucalypts, the assortment of LED lighting and the fibre-optic tree roots (I hope that’s what they were meant to be; if not, they were still doing a top job). The full moon glowing over the pond was epic, and the whole place had a lovely feeling of people enjoying themselves without anyone needing to check the time every five minutes.

It’s also a good outing for photographers, with plenty of colour, reflections and little details to catch your eye. Seth and I managed to tick both the family and photography boxes — always handy when you can keep the kids entertained and come home with a camera roll that needs its own holiday.

The ticket price felt well placed for a school-holiday adventure, and it’s the sort of experience that makes you think, “We could do that again.” We will.
A big thank you to Lazer Vision Media for creating such an immersive experience, and to the City of Joondalup for putting on a great event. Bloom is a lovely excuse to get out after dark, have a wander and enjoy a bit of wonder — with just enough lights to make you forget you’re still in Joondalup.
