WHERE WAS YOUR HEAD AT?……WE WERE WATCHING “BASEMENT JAXX”

FREMANTLE PRISON 11TH MARCH 2026 – FACE TO FACE TOURING

BASE

Some gigs are good… and some gigs turn an old historic prison into a full-blown dance floor. Last night at Fremantle Prison, the legendary Basement Jaxx reminded Perth exactly why they’ve been one of the most electrifying names in electronic music for decades.

Rolling back into Australia for the first time in over 15 years, the duo delivered a set that felt less like a concert and more like a joyous rave inside one of the most unlikely venues imaginable. The towering limestone walls of the prison yard soaked up every beat as the crowd bounced from start to finish. From the moment the first bass line kicked in, punters were locked in—hands in the air, big grins everywhere, and absolutely zero chance anyone was standing still.

Visually it was just as chaotic (in the best way possible). Lights, colour, movement and a stage presence that had the whole place humming. The beauty of shooting a show like this is that every direction you point the camera tells a different story—fans losing their minds, performers feeding off the energy, and that iconic Fremantle backdrop making it all feel a bit surreal.

What really stood out was the atmosphere. It felt like one big collective “welcome back” party for a group that clearly still knows how to command a crowd. After such a long absence, Basement Jaxx didn’t just return—they detonated the dance floor.

A huge thank you to Face to Face Touring for the access and the opportunity to capture the night. Always a privilege to document moments like this, especially when the music, the crowd and the venue all collide to create something pretty bloody special.
