24TH JANUARY PERTH HPC – MOUNT CLAREMONT (ALL AGES)

There’s something uniquely beautiful about a Saturday arvo in Perth — the kind where the sun’s doing its best to cook you medium-rare and the city’s metal community gathers like a family reunion, except everyone’s wearing black and no one’s arguing about who stole the good Tupperware.

Froth & Fury rolled into HPC on the 24th Jan and delivered exactly what its name promised: absolute froth levels of excitement and just enough fury to keep the pits spinning like a Bunnings fan on special.

This wasn’t some rinky-dink backyard bash. This was a three-staged, fully loaded, heavy-hitting metal punk extravaganza, and the organization? Mate… tight as a snare drum. Security everywhere but not in-your-face, food trucks pumping, drinks flowing, and familiar faces from all corners of the Perth heavy scene. It had that warm “we all belong here” vibe — like a family Christmas, but with more blast beats and fewer passive-aggressive comments.

Now, with 25+ acts flying around the timetable like a hungry mozzie swarm, it was physically impossible to catch everyone (sorry to the bands I missed — you still looked loud from a distance). But the big hitters? They absolutely delivered.

Soulfly came out swinging with riffs heavy enough to loosen your fillings. Polaris were as polished as ever — emotional, explosive and tight, proving again why they’re one of Australia’s top-tier exports.

In Hearts Wake brought that eco-warrior energy, Nailbomb hit like a brick to the forehead in the best way possible, and Lagwagon reminded everyone that punk never ages — it just gets faster.

Then you had Abbath, who rocked up looking like he’d escaped from a Norwegian cave with a fresh corpse-paint makeover. The crowd ate it up. Ocean Sleeper, Archspire, Aborted, Body Snatchers, Voyager, Freedom of Fear, Patient 67 — all of them tore their stages apart with sets that were equal parts chaos, precision, and raw joy.

And the pits… mate, the pits.

There were moshpits, circle pits, deathwalls, and even a few enthusiastic cartwheels from the brave (or uncoordinated). But for all the chaos, the vibe was pure respect. People picked each other up before they hit the ground, kids were having a blast, adults were reliving their glory days, and not once did I see aggression. Just sweaty legends having the time of their lives.

That’s the beauty of this community — heavy music, heavy sounds, but hearts made of marshmallow. Metalheads look after their own, and Froth & Fury proved it again.

By the end of the night, HPC looked like it had survived a sonic cyclone — in the best way possible. Every stage punched above its weight, the production was spot on, and the festival ran smoother than a fresh jar of Bega peanut butter.

A massive shoutout and thank you to the entire Froth & Fury and Soundworks touring teams for the access and for putting on such a killer festival. Events like this don’t happen by accident — it takes passion, grit, organization, and a crew who genuinely love the scene……… WELL PLAYED!

All up…………
Highly recommend.……. you are crazy if you dont jump on this next year – it is simple use it or loose it!
Book me a ticket for next year already — I’ll be there with bells on. Well, earplugs… but you get the idea.
